Blue Sky by ilolamai a very strong and eye-catching piece. The subject is very well drawn and the shading is superb. I have yet find my personal technique on SAI to shade like that. I especially love the hair. Your choice of colours for the subject is perfect as well, as the orange stands out very well against the blue sky. Also, your rendering of the cityscape is very commendable. I'm sure it took you quite some time to do?
However, I do have some unsettling feeling about this picture. I think it's the detachment between the subject and the background. First of all, the clouds, while giving it a blur to simulate depth of field, should, IMO, be sharp. It feels like the clouds are from a different image photoshopped in. There is a detachment between that and the cityscape. The cityscape itself feels detached from the subject. I think it's the shading technique used. The subject uses a mixture of hard and soft shading while the buildings use mainly soft gradient shading. The trees, however, look superb, and if you can give the buildings texture, I think it will improve it. That also goes for the foreground, the floor on the balcony(?) needs a bit of texture.
Overall, it's a very impactful piece with great vision and originality.
(Just my 2 cents. I'm not at your level yet, but I think that's what I would do if I were to do this. Keep up the good work!)
You put a lot of hard work on how you did this illustration of girl, in including the city and the blue sky.
First of all, I really like how you drew the girl in the background with the clothing that she's wearing, including the orange skirt and the detailing surrounding her cloth.
I also like how you drew her hair flowing down her body as well. The posing on the character, including her anatomy came out wonderful too. I also like how you did the railings that she's holding also.
As for the city surrounding her. You worked really hard on how you drew the buildings (including the detailing of the skyscrapers and the houses) surrounding her.
Lastly, you worked pretty hard on how you did the shading of the sky and the clouds surrounding her. I even like how you did the shading and colouring surrounding her.
How long did it take for you to do this illustration and did you run into any problems doing the illustration?
You made a pretty important mistake... that people generally don't care about. And that's the shadows. They go in different directions, and their intensities are different. Seeing as you have 5k views, and a decent fav : view ratio... I doubt you have to make this change.
The girl is so cute and beautiful, but more than that I wanna mention it's awesome and amazing of the background, especially the detailed buildings! I wonder how you could make that ^^ Is this the actual landscape?
